I came to America from China in 2004. I was born in China. I have two daughters. I have a job, I work three days a week, 12 hours everyday. The job is very hard. I was homesick, no friends here. I daily was always the same, go to the job, go to school and go to bed. When I go to school I’m very happy, there are schoolmates.

My teacher’s name is Todd. He is very nice. He is teaching my English. My English has improved. Thank you teacher, thank you very much.

I’m Kim Leang. I was born in January 1942 in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. When I grew up my native language is Cambodian. Then, I learned French, because my country was colonized by France. At the old generation, my country was in the revolutionary wars more than thirty years. I got married in 1964 and have 4 children.

My life was very difficult on this bad period. I left my native country to United States of America in November 1994. I lived at California for two month. At first, I was afraid to walk far because my English was very down. After I got a job at the factory, I started to learn English at night. I moved to Philadelphia on March 2005.

Every Saturday, I learn English at the Cambodian Association or Greater Philadelphia. In my free time I study more English at the Korea Community Center. Sometimes I learn at St.Paul Lutheran School, too.

I like the weather in USA. This country is peaceful and their people are free. I hope my life here will be better than my native country. I’m excited for my education. I will be citizen of USA in the future.

I visited the biggest subway station in the world is Grand Central Station Terminal in New York City. Everyday, more than half million people pass through the station, it was wonderful. There are many people come from different countries around the world to visit this beautiful country.
